#83 On Getting Through the Void

The sleep monkey got me today. I slept in. But still made it to the gym. Still got the work in.
Why was I late? Lately I’ve been diving into music production building tracks from scratch on Logic Pro X, using what I know, and learning what I don’t. It’s been working my brain like crazy which probably led to me needing the sleep. And here’s the thing that I thought about as I was getting into my day later than usual. I'm investing all this time in music and I’m creating music that a lot of humans won’t hear. Some will hear it and not feel it. Others just won’t care.
And that’s the void.
In this episode of Happy Human, I’m talking about what it’s like to keep creating even when the room is quiet. When the claps don’t come. When the response is muted. That doesn’t mean the work is bad. It just means the right ears haven’t found it yet.
I share how I think about “getting through the crowd.” Your humans might be on the other side of a noisy room. You’ve just gotta keep showing up until you can get through all the humans who are not interested and get through to the ones that are.
My creations are not for everyone and that’s the point. I have worked and continue to work with being ok with being misunderstood as a human jumping into creativity and sharing. Sometimes I don't know why my brain thinks a certain way and how it meshes ideas together. I'm here experiencing that as well.
This episode touches on how I’m pushing through the void by focusing on the craft. By showing up daily. Posting episodes. Writing blog posts like this one. Making music. It’s the reps. And when you’re not getting applause, you gotta build your own inner validation.
You’ll hear stories about my analogy of door to door salesmen, mall kiosks with humans pitching you products, and Macario Martínez! He's the street sweeper in Mexico who blew up on Spotify with 2 million listeners earlier in 2025. It looked overnight. It wasn’t. He was working and ready. Music ready. Foundation ready.
I talk about building things right. Slowly. Brick by brick. Like a foundation under the castle so it doesn’t tumble the moment you get the audience. Same with fitness. Same with creativity. Same with life.
If you’re moving through your own void, keep going. Someone out there is waiting to say yes.
