Artists need some copywriting skills to compete in the social-media-verse. Focusing on sales copy is important because the goal is to put into writing messages that get someone to take action. The action is for the reader of the message to opt in to consume what is being presented.
There’s an old trick that photographers use… “To see the entire collection click here.” This is enticing as the viewer has a decision to make… “can I live without ever seeing the entire collection? or I’ll just click on it because I don’t want to miss out”.
Artists and Brands use the limited copy… “Only 50 made.”, “1 of 50” amongst many other forms to entice the viewer to choose between “I’ll pass on this… since 49 other people will have it or I want to be one of those 50 people!”
Both of these examples are trying to get the viewer to take action and artists need people to take action and want to download their song, buy their art piece, hire them for photography, etc.
