handshake for a pigskin

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs played agains the Chicago Bears this past Sunday, October 24, 2021. Sometime during the game — Tom Brady threw a pass to his receiver Mike Evans for a touchdown!

That touchdown pass was Brady’s 600th touchdown pass and Evans celebrated with the old pigskin before handing it over to a fan!

Cool huh? Well… no, not really.

That pigskin that was sitting in a ball bag before the game increased in value. I mean it’s the 600th TD pass!

The fan, Byron Kennedy, had his hands on the ball for a short time before a Bucs representative went over to make a deal with him to get the ball back.

The deal — according to a reporter on the sidelines was that Kennedy would receive a game ball (just not the 600th TD pass game ball!) and a signed jersey.

The deal happened with tv cameras filming the moment and most sport anchors woke up talking about it on their shows today.

What I liked about all the footage of the deal was that for a moment the fan and the Bucs rep forgot about fist bumping (which has become a normal greeting nowadays) and went in for a good ol’ handshake on the deal.

The handshake was and still is valuable! That pigskin wasn’t as valuable until it was the 600th TD ball.
