A planner where you schedule time for creativity even if inspiration is lacking at the moment your allocated time starts. If you have an idea then you can break it down into creative time slots.
If you have ever followed a workout regimen revolving around weightlifting then you may be familiar with the days broken down into: Chest-day, leg-day, shoulders, arms, abs, etc…
If weightlifters breakdown their days and plan their workouts… then a creative person can do the same with creativity and this is where the planner comes in:
Mondays: Analog Art – paint, sketchbook, clay, etc…
Tuesdays: Digital Art – photoshop, procreate (for iPads), illustrator
Wednesdays: Writing – create a story, blogging, poetry writing, write a joke
Thursday: Audio – create music
Friday: Video/Photography – go out and get some photos/video
So you schedule an hour or two or a few if you can afford it and carry out this activity because it’s on your planner. All you need after you fill in the planner is to remember to check your planner. If you have a digital planner you can set a reminder for your phone and if you have a analog planner then you can still set a reminder on your phone to alert you to check it.
You can hijack some of the days with the same activity if you are already working on an idea. You can also breakdown the idea into the different days and take it a little at time. That book you are writing can be broken down into writing a chapter every other day. If you already have creative projects going on then you can break those down as well.
Monday: Podcast
Tuesday – Friday: Blogging
Saturday-Sunday: Video/Photography
Get yourself a planner but make it a creative planner, it helps.
