I admire the journeys both of them undertook as they set out to be known as artists in New York City.
I also walked a way with a thought that no matter how much they made from art it seems that they never led a lifestyle of luxury. They accumulated money and they reached a level of notoriety in the art world but never focused on the money.
Beeple can be thought of as this now that the NFTs have blown up and everyone and their mother has an nft to sell. He was never thinking of “oh I’m going to sell my digital art as NFTs! in the future…”. He sat down and drew some art for close to 14 years and then decided to sell the art when the market became available.
Watch the documentaries… they are insightful to what a creative life really is… creativity, competition, financial success but no focus on the financial piece as a means of worth.
