gifting your focus

Sure we get to connect to the world via a free app from the digital marketplace, however, everything has a cost.

A device costs some money.

Your mobile phone service has a cost as well.

After this cost we get access to the world for free.

Facebook – Free

Instagram – Free

Snapchat – Free

Tik Tok – Free

Twitter – Free

or is it…?

It’s so easy to access all of these services “for free”. It’s a gift.

A gift is defined as a thing given willingly to someone without payment.

Well, you gifted your attention for free.

You willingly pull your phone out of your back pocket, from underneath your pillow at night from your center console when stuck in traffic. Maybe not willingly, but habitually (and that’s a story for another day). You build habits and you gift attention jumping from one app to the next.

We gifted attention and paid with focus. Not free.
