“Productive” = Distraction?

Everything is available on the go. I listened to courses while driving in the city and out of town and I thought I was being “productive”, “efficient” — even hustling.

I was teaching my mind but I wasn’t teaching it what the courses had to offer. Instead, I was teaching it how to not be in the present. I was teaching my mind to be elsewhere and never present. My body in one place doing one thing while my mind was in another.

I can imagine an athlete performing their craft and what it would look like for their mind and body to be divided. They would fail miserably.

In this case being “productive” was not leading to productivity because in the long run my mind was getting used to not being focused on the moment.

Not being focused on the moment negatively impacts the opportunities that come our way because we don’t see them and we don’t take them.
