I had this thought the other day for a TV show and I shared it with a friend who said it would probably make a good skit on Saturday Night Live. So I’ll share it here…
It’s the Renaissance Creatives in our day.
I imagine Michaengelo and Da Vinci dealing with the technology we have nowadays while trying to create their masterpieces.
Would they have been trying to influence the masses as many creatives do now instead of focusing on their craft and producing works?
I picture Mike taking video of the scaffold he is about to climb up to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. He pans a shot of the ground to the ceiling with the caption “I’m about to paint this bitch. #hustle”. He gets a few likes so continues focusing on angle-ing the camera shots and presses the shutter from his Apple Watch as he paints.
I picture Leo taking video of the brushes and the canvas that he will use to paint the Mona Lisa. He pans from left to right to show his workspace with the caption “Painting that girl I saw at the market. #stillLifeChallenge”
Mike taking a picture of the uncut marble with the caption “Carving David out of this block right here! Creative Block? I don’t think so.”
Leo taking a picture of a journal with the sketches for his new piece The Last Supper with the caption “Coming Soon! Stay tuned. Follow me.”
Anyway… if someone reads this and likes the idea – give this blog post a shout out.
