Creativity is a mix of both these lives. Inspiration strikes fast and one has to be quick to take note to create something out of this — once inspiration strikes and you are ready to create then we should switch to the slow life. This means we have to be patient with ourselves and the development of the idea to bring about a creation.
If we cant switch from fast to slow then we run the risk of building up irritation with ourselves and dropping the project all together.
There are famous creative people at both ends of this. Some of them operated at one speed — fast. The others got by slowly.
“Oh man… but our world is all about fast. Fast food, instant download, the next button on the music app to avoid waiting for a bad song to finish. Everything is fast — so we should be fast as well… Right?”
Not sure.
I think in order to create something meaningful you have to slow down.
Slow your thinking, slow your doing, create slowly, focus fast.
