It’s football season in the states and I want to share this idea from a couple of years ago.
It’s an analogy of how we can look at life.
I think of the football game that we tune into on Sunday and how we know that the goal of the game is to score and win the game.
There are rules to play by and certain plays from our playbook to play within those rules to score and rack up points.
Most of us can tune into a football game and watch the teams rack up points. A few of us, though, understand how the teams are working to get those points and the rest of us don’t.
Same with life, a few us know the rules and have certain skills and strategies for approaching life to see if we can score (or reach our goals).
We can rack up points sometimes and when asked how we did it we may answer that “it just happened”.
Football teams and their game plans are intentional and so should our life plan be intentional.
We’re the coaches and we coach ourselves to score just as the coaches on the teams coach their teams to score and win games.
We know the game plan just like the coaches know their game plan. Is it the right game plan?
What’s the score? Do you understand the score? How did we score those points OR why haven’t we scored some points?
