The running back on a football team aims to gain some yardage every time the quarterback hands them the ball.
Let’s say you are both the quarterback and the running back.
As the quarterback you are calling the plays and you trust that the play calls you are making will allow you to move towards your goal — a touchdown.
Let’s say you plan on having your running back run through the offensive line a few plays to gain some yardage.
You become the running back and you trust that those individuals will open up a hole for you to run through and gain some yardage.
It is here that we have to let the play develop. We have to let our offensive line create a hole for us to run through.
It’s patience that gets us to stop a bit and wait for the play to develop and a hole to open up.
The same goes for the progress we want to make in life. We have to wait for the situation to develop and for the pieces to be in place for us to run through and make some progress.
We hand ourselves over to opportunity but we have to be patient and wait for the hole.
