I was driving down the road, came to a stop and turned off the music in my car.
I wanted to experience silence for a bit and once I did that, a thought crept in — this silence was the norm when the automobile was invented. No fancy radio or access to a library of songs. Just you, the engine running, the road and whatever other sound you experienced as you drove.
My mind then wanted to figure out what year the car was invented and I couldn’t provide myself the answer. I had no knowledge of it.
I thought I would just google-it which led to another thought — if this was the past with no audio device, no noise and of course no internet I would be left wondering what year the automobile was invented. I would probably not find out until I came across someone who knew this and then I would have to trust them with the info they gave me.
I chose not to google it because I won’t need that info in my life or mind — right now. I don’t even need it for this post and so I didn’t google-it.
I think google has made me smarter than I am but at the same time it has loaded a bunch of info that I don’t need and it takes up mental space.
Who knows when the automobile was invented… what I do know is that today I gained just a little more focus and some mental space.
